Introduction - Who am I
Hello! Welcome to my first ever blog post.
I am Maria and for the next few weeks I will be bringing you along with me on my Digital Economy learning journey. This is my second go at college, the first go was quite some time ago, a time when very few people had PC's and even fewer people had laptops and we were using dial up internet.
My early work experience was retail, mostly family businesses, in these roles we used little to no information systems the majority of recorded information was paper based. This meant that a lot of time was spent filing, orgainsing, and searching for information. Many times information was incorrect due to human error.
In 2019 I began work in Rigney Dolphin/RelateCare in Waterford, here I was introduced to using information systems on a daily basis. these systems were; Salesforce - CRM, Oracle, and the HSE's National Schemes Viewer.
Last semester I completed my work placement with Vhi in Kilkenny, here I used systems such as; Core HR, Core portal, Softworks time and attendance software - clockwise and the clockwise configuration system, Softco and SharePoint.
Information systems helped me save time when completing tasks during my work placement, having all the information there at hand. Most of the systems had a record of the person on my team that entered specific information so if I had a question about certain information I could ask that person directly and get an answer more efficiently. Having systems like Sharepoint meant that people from different teams and areas in Human Resources could feed information onto forms that then could be used across all teams that required it.
If you made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read my blog.
Maria
